CA not working after todays update.... vista users... had any problems??

my CA isnt workin anymore.... im a vista user.... its crashing after i click 'game start' on the opening window...and yes i disabled DEP and it still aint working....any ideas (other than dloading the whole thing again)??????

Nexon has announced that all Vista Users will have to wait till tomorror or tonight because of a bug in the system

I want to play new map too. Also put money in paypal to get L85A1 MOD LE. Now if only they made M4A1 SOPMOD a LE weapon.

I'm not going to tell you crazy stuff on how to fix it, but do this. In order.

1. Go into AVG, double click on resident shield, it should open. Then click on manage exceptions. Next click add path, and put in C:Nexon (or where ever your nexon folder is). Next go to "excluded files" on left hand side and click on it. Then click add and put in:
C:Nexon/Combat Arms/Combat Arms.exe
C:Nexon/Combat Arms/engine.exe
C:Nexon/Combat Arms/Game/CShell.dll

Restart pc and try ca, if doesnt work move on.

2. Go into AVG, double click on resident shield, it should open. Click disable.
Restart pc and try ca, if doesnt work move on.

3. Start>Run>msconfig. Startup tab. Deselect AVG. Restart pc. If it doesnt work, I'm not going to tell you any more.

Heres some I found. (above worked for me)

TIP #1 : "Remove Compatability Mode"


- Right click on the CA icon

- Click properties,

- Click on the compatibility tab

- Uncheck the "run this program in compatibility mode for" box



TIP #2 : "Mess Around with Compatibility Modes"



- Change the compatibility to Windows XP SP2 / SP3,

mess around with the modes.





TIP #3 : "Disable Your AntiVirus" (For Now Until this gets fixed)

- Press Start

- Click run

- Type "msconfig" <---Dont add the " "

- Click startup tab

- Uncheck your antivirus softwear

- Restart your computer

- Now your antivirus is reallly disabled.

- Try Combat Arms



Undo everything if that didnt work XD



TIP #4 : "Allow Combat Arms Through Your Firewall"



- Click start

- Control panel

- Security Center

- Windows firewall

- Should be an option to "allow program through firewall" click it

- Browse, find Combat arms and add it to the allow list.

- Restart computer and then try.



TIP #5: "For AVG USERS, worked for some people"



- Double click your AVG tray icon

- Click on Overview

- Double Click on "Resident Shield"

- Uncheck the box " Resident Shield Active" This will disable the RS

- Start CA

- If that doesnt work undo it.

lol thanks nobleking..... however.. i'm too lazy to try all that... XD... i'm not that desperate... but yeah.. if they don't fix it by tomorrow, i might start doing all that...so thx for da tips!

And look what I found for ya... (this not by me)
1: Download the game

2: Download your Firewall(Comodo for me), Anti-Virus(Mine was Avira).

3: Unplug your internet cable.

4: Uninstall Combat Arms

5: Uninstall Firewall+Anti-Virus

6: Clean up your PC (I used Wise Disk Cleaner and Wise Registry Cleaner) empty Recycle Bin

7: Restart you PC

8: Re-Install CA

9: Reconnect your internet clable

10: Then Try to log in(No Firewall or Anti-Virus installed yet)

10: If it works(It did for me) HOORAY PS: you owe me a cookie :D

11: Re-Install your Firewall/Anti-Virus

11: Make sure to give complete permission to CA or the Firewall will block it XD

12: Have no life happy?

YAY!! SUCCESS!!!thank you, Nobleking.... your tips helped... i got CA to work...
for anyone who has problems... here's what i did...

1. i did the manual hshield update[i forgot to do it after reinstalling CA(just in case it was necessary was necessary)]

2. Let CA through my firewall,

3. disabled UAC

4. restarted, and disabled my anti-virus (I changed it to avira's free version (if u right click its tray icon, you'll see 'Avira guard disable')

5. tried... it failed again... then i opened its .exe properties, and disabled the compatibility mode(stopped using XP compatibility), clicked apply, clicked OK.

6. tried CA again.... clicked ''Game Start'", and to my surprise the usual hackshield loading thing opened, and then the game started... I'm gonna playing as much as i can for the next few days, to make up for my GP loss...its down to 9k now....

So what i did for every1 still having problems was that i made a new folder in my nexon folder and name it nexon with lower case n and then put CA in it.
like so!
C:\Nexon\nexon\Combat Arms
and ty to some dud in the CA forums for the help.

well my game is working properly.... but i hate the site starting thing..... its so annoying. I thought it was optional to start it from the site. but now i found out.... and it sux!! LIKE A BAUSS!!

you dont need to start from the website

Go to My Computer
C HardDrive
Nexon Folder
Combat Arms Folder
Look for CombatArms_Direct
Right Click it and Create a Shortcut

Whee done
